Pulau Dayang Bunting — Lake of the Pregnant Maiden

A freshwater lake hidden inside a collapsed limestone cave on a forested island. Legend says the lake grants fertility. Kayak the lake, spot otters and monkeys, then swim in the surrounding cove.

Kilim Karst Geoforest Park

A mangrove river system winding through 500-million-year-old limestone formations. Eagles circle overhead, macaques watch from the trees, and bat caves echo in the canyon. Explore by dinghy or kayak.

Pantai Cenang

Langkawi's liveliest beach — a 2km strip of sand with beach bars, night markets, and the best nasi lemak (coconut rice) in Malaysia. Anchor offshore and dinghy in for an evening out.

Ko Lipe, Thailand (Butang Group)

A 30-mile sail northwest from Langkawi brings you to Ko Lipe — a Thai island with Caribbean-grade beaches and world-class snorkeling over coral gardens. Clear Thai customs at the immigration boat.

Pulau Payar Marine Park

Malaysia's first marine park, south of Langkawi. Shallow coral reefs with blacktip reef sharks, clownfish, and giant clams. Snorkel right from the yacht.

Sample Itinerary

7 days in Langkawi, Malaysia

Day 1: Telaga Harbour → Pulau Dayang Bunting

Depart the stunning Telaga Harbour marina. Short sail southeast to Dayang Bunting. Kayak the Pregnant Maiden Lake, swim in the sheltered cove, and anchor for the night.

Day 2: Dayang Bunting → Kilim Geoforest Park

Sail north into the Kilim mangrove system. Explore by dinghy — eagle feeding stations, bat caves, and a floating fish farm restaurant for fresh-off-the-boat seafood.

Day 3: Kilim → Pantai Cenang

Anchor off Langkawi's main beach. Explore the night market (pasar malam) — satay, roti canai, fresh tropical fruit, and everything is absurdly cheap.

Day 4: Pantai Cenang → Pulau Payar

Sail south to Pulau Payar Marine Park. Morning snorkeling over coral gardens — blacktip sharks and giant clams. Afternoon back to Langkawi.

Day 5: Langkawi → Ko Lipe, Thailand

Cross the border by sea (30 miles). Clear customs at Ko Lipe's immigration boat. Anchor off Sunrise Beach — snorkel the coral, eat green curry on the sand.

Day 6: Ko Lipe → Ko Adang → Ko Rawi

Island-hop the Butang Group. Ko Adang has jungle waterfalls and a hilltop viewpoint. Ko Rawi has pristine, deserted beaches.

Day 7: Ko Rawi → Langkawi (Telaga Harbour)

Sail back to Malaysia. Final swim at a secluded Langkawi island cove. Return to Telaga Harbour for checkout and a last duty-free shopping run.
